9/19/2009- Brown/Izon Wedding Ceremony & Reception

We were at the Riverview Country Club in Appleton on Saturday to celebrate with Hannah Brown & Stephen Izon at their wedding and reception.   We usually meet well before the day to go over all of the details face to face, but Hannah & Stephen are from Washington DC, so we did the planning over the phone.   We kicked off the big day at the ceremony which we provided sound reinforcement for.    The prelude offered several selections of modern music played by the Vitamin String Quartet.   The bridesmaids were all dressed in yellow, perfect for the bridesmaid processional to “Yellow” by Coldplay, in the classical version.   Hannah’s processional was to “Canon In D”  a version that we suggested, and the recessional was to a piano version of Alicia Keye’s “No One” which they found on “You Tube.”   We have ceremony packages that start as low as $100 for reinforcement, check it out on our website.

The reception kicked off in traditional east coast style with the bridal party introductions to “SOS” by Rihanna, followed by their first dance, the original “Stand By Me” by Ben E King, a classic which still sounds good today, as it was 50 years ago.

It was a small, intimate wedding of just over 80 guests, but that didnt stop them from having a blast!  These guests really know how to dance.  We played everything from the Beach Boys to the Black Eyed Peas, to Motown!

Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!

Eldridge/Drees Reception 6/27/2009

On Saturday, June 27th,  Danielle Eldridge & John Drees,  Celebrated
their Wedding Reception at the Elks Lodge in Oshkosh.    This reception came as a referral from Danielle’s sister, Erin, who was married last year.  Thanks for the referral, Erin!

Guests began arriving for cocktails at 5pm, and enjoyed a good mix of
smooth jazz,  continuing through the 6 O’Clock Hour, when
a Buffet was served.

Shortly after 7pm, the kids were invited to take
part in a Scavenger Hunt, which was a huge success!  If you
plan on having a good number of children at your reception, this is a
great way for both young and old to bond, and also works great
for just adults, too!   At 7:30,  the wedding party offered toasts to
the Bride and Groom,  some funny, some very  touching…  Shortly
before 8,  The reception began, with a good mix of 50’s & 60’s oldies,  the
dance floor came alive almost immediately!  at about 8:15,  we got the
Grand March underway,  “September”  by Earth Wind & Fire was the song
that brought couples out to the floor, followed by Bryan Adams’
“Everything I Do”    Danielle & John chose “When You Know” by Shawn
Colvin  for their First Dance Song,  that was followed up by
“Cinderella”  by Steven Curtis Chapman,  for the Father/Daughter
Dance..   I then invited all married couples out to the floor to join
the Bride & Groom for Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight”  at least 20
couples  joined John & Danielle.    I then had guests  applaud
them and wished them 20 years of wedded bliss,  one year for every
couple on the floor with them!

We followed that up with the Bouquet Toss,  and played Beyonce’s  “All The Single Ladies”   a great song.. and I believe is THE new bouquet toss tradition!  Then came the Garter Toss,  The single guys came out to David Lee Roth’s  “Just A Gigolo”   then had the couple that caught
the items, dance together to Harry Connick Junior’s “It Had To Be You”
which by the way, almost always gets great response from the
audience!

Party music then resumed, and the floor was practically full
for the rest of the night!   playing a great variety of Party
Favorites, including The Cupid Shuffle, Cha-Cha Slide, YMCA, Chicken Dance,  Old Time Rock & Roll,  Shout,  The Macarena, plus new favorites
from  Black Eyed Peas, Soulja Boy, Gwen Stefani,  and even a Michael
Jackson Tribute by the Groomsmen, who did their “Thriller”
rendition, which was well received!

I had alot of fun interacting with your guests, and just being a part of your special night!   Thank you for having me, and many blessings for the years to come!!

Schult/King Reception 6/20/2009

Referrals are KING! Last night, 23 year veteran DJ and Owner, Ed Eaton, celebrated with Chris Schult & Taylor King and 253 of their closest friends and family, at the Rodeway Inn & Suites in Tomahawk, WI. Their reception comes by way of referral from an event we did last summer for their friend Grayson Albers in Merrill. Thanks for the referral Grayson! (Keep in mind, if you refer a couple to us for a wedding reception and/or ceremony, and they book with us, you’ll get a free gift, and they will get $25 off their entertainment package.)

We started the cocktail hour at 5:00 pm with an ecclectic mix of Jazz, everything from Michael Buble, Norah Jones, and Diana Krall to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett. The bridal party was introduced right before dinner to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Michael Buble, a perfect mix to go along with their choices for dinner music.

Then it was onto the cake cutting, followed by dinner, after Grayson Albers led everyone in prayer. The cake was fantastic! I was truly amazed at this white, tiered cake with black cursive lettering on each tier. The chose etching with a verse from Ecclesiates 4:12 “A Cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Coincindentally, its the same verse that my wife and I used at our wedding.

I loved the detail that Taylor and Chris put into their wedding planning. During dinner instead of glass clinking, Chris & Taylor asked guests to share their favorite story or memory of the couple. This certain made for some great laughs, tears, and happy memories, not to mention plenty of entertainment for the guests. They also had several kids in attendance and chose to have a “kids activity table” following dinner, complete with crayons, coloring books, and other activities to keep them busy. If you are planning to have kids attend your reception, this is another great idea that you might want to consider at your reception.

The reception dancing began shortly before 8:00 pm with Chris & Taylor’s first dance, “Only Hope” by Switchfoot. The father/daughter dance followed with Lullabye by Billy Joel, and the Mother/Son Dance was “The Man You’ve Become” by Molly Passutti. (An excellent, fairly new wedding song from weddingmusiccentral.com) If you are looking for a different feature dance, where the words really have special meaning, I encourage to check out this website. Taylor also had a special dance with her Grandfather, Grandpa Wally, to Louis Armstrong’s, “What a Wonderful World!”

On to the dancing, we packed the dance floor for the first open song, “Moonlight Serenade” by Glenn Miller, a 40’s big band classic, since we had several from that generation at the reception. One key way to get guests out from the beginning onto the dancef loor, is to play a slow song, and invite everyone to dance with the bride and groom. This week was no exception, they danced from the beginning to the bitter end! What a night!

The grand march was awesome as well, as we played the beginning loop of “Welcome To The Jungle” by Guns and Roses, and kept looping the 20 second beginning before words, it was unique, and then the bridal party danced to “Get Down Tonight” by KC and the Sunshine Band.

I just want to thank Grayson Albers one more time for the awesome referral, and I also wish both Chris & Taylor nothing but the best!
