Vold/Locher Ceremony & Reception 5/29/2009

Yesterday we celebrated with Jordan Vold & Megan Locher at their ceremony and reception at the Hawks View Golf Club in Lake Geneva.  The weather was spectacular for their outdoor evening ceremony that began at 6pm.   The Hawk’s View is one of the most beautiful scenic locations we’ve ever played at, complete with Gardens, golf course, a beautiful outdoor pavilion and rolling hills.

I really enjoyed helping Megan & Jordan plan the entertainment for their event, the entire ceremony was centralized around an acoustic guitar theme.   We included an acoustic guitar mix of praise and worship music for the prelude, followed by the parents seating to “How Great Thou Art” on Acoustic Guitar.   The bridesmaids entered the pavilion to an Acoustic Guitar Version of “Amazing Grace” by Jordan Lee, and finally Megan made her way down the aisle to “Canon in D”, an acoustic version by Trace Bundy.

If you are looking for something unique, or would like to something different, create a theme, and theme the music around it, it’s amazing!   Guests started clapping rhythms as Megan & Jordan exited to James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is,”  they were all swaying back and forth and clapping.   This was a sign that the night was going to be great!  And oh how it was!

The reception inside followed, with instrumental praise and worship as guests were treated to a wide variety of hor’s dorves.   With the ceremony starting at 6pm and the reception inside beginning about 7:30pm, it made for a shorted evening packed with plenty of memories and fun!    Instead of Glass clinking for a kiss, Megan & Jordan opted for guests sharing their favorite memories or stories about them.   Cool Idea, if you are looking for glass clinking ideas, check some out here.

We opened the dancing following their slide show with their first dance, “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds, and followed it with a combo father/daughter and mother/son dance to “My Wish” by the Rascal Flatts.   I always suggest, if you don’t want the spotlight, or if you are short on time, to have a combo dance after your first dance, it works well.   One great way to get guests on the dance floor right away and pack it out for a great night, is to bring as many couples out to the dance floor, and then start the open dancing with a slow song.   It works well!   We did just that at Megan & Jordan’s wedding, with one of Jill Locher’s favorite’s, “Moonlight Serenade” by Glenn Miller.   Megan’s mom was thrilled, and got to even dance with her dad, something she said she hasn’t done in years!

Other highlights and requests included:

Cotton Eyed Joe

Friends In Low Places

Respect

Cha Cha Slide

& Jump, Jive and Wail

It’s always treat to see everyone from Grandma and Grandpa right down to the five and six year olds, and everyone in between, packing the dance floor and having a great time!   The reception’s scheduled end time

was 10:30pm, which we ended with one of Jordan’s favorite’s, “Friday I’m In Love” a remake of the Cure’s song, by Fiction Family.   Everyone circled Megan & Jordan one last time, while they danced in the middle.  What a way to end the evening.   In addition, ending the night non traditionally before midnight is also another excellent idea!  Think about it, wouldn’t you rather end the night with 200 people packing out the dance floor.

Megan & Jordan thank you for letting us be a part of your very special day, we wish you both nothing but the best!
